Biography
Jie Mei is one of the founding professors at Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U), the Linz-based university dedicated exclusively to digital transformation, where she researches the connections between natural and artificial intelligence. Germany’s Der Spiegel featured her in a cover story alongside OpenAI founder Sam Altman and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg
Jie Mei received her M.Sc. in Cognitive Science from the École Normale Supérieure in 2015 and earned her Ph.D. in Medical Neuroscience from Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2019. She subsequently completed two postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Quebec and Western University in Canada. Prior to joining IT:U, she served as a Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo.
Her main research interests include computational neuroscience, brain-inspired artificial intelligence, brain health, and the use of AI to analyze and better understand neuroscience data.
